One more article on “I refuse to participate in the recession” and I may vomit – really.
You are part of it whether you like it or not…..socioeconomic science, plain and simple. You CAN however, choose to respond versus react to it. You CAN choose to participate positively rather than negatively and to foster innovative economic growth and solutions rather than retreating into panic driven survivalist mode. The truth is, there is a recession happening – DUH!. A large majority, although not all, of businesses and consumers are pulling back on the circulation of resources. But, there are still businesses growing, entrepreneurs flourishing and investors making big bucks. Of those continuing to thrive they are either competently understanding and working WITH the recession to discover the new opportunities that are being born there and have run their businesses in a fashion that equally understand the ups and downs or they have discovered that their niche or industry is willing to support their services no matter what. The latter of those people are likely so called to their work and love what they do that they would continue it even in the face of less earnings. They are also teetering delicately on an edge of popularity that may or may not provide long term sustainability. Or they are truly experts and an invaluable resource to us all. They also shine a great light of understanding that what happens in the majority needn’t happen to everyone. And truly, you can remove yourself from economic strife by following their lead. However, I have to point out that those who instead of denying a recession are understanding and embracing the world changes that it brings are really the educated leaders of the future. You are part of the whole puzzle. Isolation and independence is a self defeating belief when it comes to money. There is no one man economy. My humble recommendation? Pick up the July-August edition of Harvard Business Review. Give yourself a couple hours to read in all the way through and instead of pronouncing your lack of participation in the recession drop me a note announcing your active participation not only in the recession but in building a healthy new level of socioeconomic health.
PS – And just in case my writings may start to sound a little to smart and not enough sassy for those of you who are coming to grow fond of my whit
….My Macy’s stock has risen to a lovely point where I will now shop and do my share to stimulate the economy right back into Macy’s. School shopping here I come.
