The Visionary

Harris-Outer Hebrides.

If someone told you that the love of your life, a million dollars and the adventure of a lifetime were waiting for you with absolute certainty, just a mile down the road, what would you do? You’re reaction to that question gives you significant self insight. Are you skeptical, excited, reluctant or overly cautious? Are already headed that direction or are you holding back in disbelief? Are you moving forward full force, or do you periodically stop, turn around and glance behind you to see if what you left behind is still there?

The truth is that you do have something wonderful waiting for you in your future. Finding it is as simple as looking for it, paying attention and accepting it when it crosses your path. But that can’t be done without watching where you’re headed instead of where you’ve been.

All too often we spend our time thinking we’re making progress just because we’re technically moving forward but if you’re paying more attention to your past than your future, you’re essentially walking backwards and missing all the beauty and opportunity along the way.

Your vision then becomes one of your past instead of your future leaving you to wander by chance instead of by choice.

Ever remember learning how to drive and having someone tell you to look at where you want to be and that’s where you’ll end up? Although letting go of the past isn’t new information in any way, it’s an important reminder of the power the past can hold. If you’re walking around backwards, looking at what was, all you’ll do is keep recreating the past in a new location. If instead you look forward to a new vision you’ll create exactly what you see.

Look forward and embrace a journey full of a new future. Every crack in the sidewalk, flower or weed along the way and all the people you pass are signs leading to the vision that lie ahead, but you must be watching them to get there!
